Ben Brereton Diaz left Blackburn Rovers for Villarreal during the summer transfer window of 2023. There was a great deal of hope surrounding the move when he arrived as a free agent.
Due to the striker’s success with Chile, Villarreal believed they were getting a good deal, and the Spanish team was probably anticipating a significant profit in the future
In the winter transfer window, the 25-year-old was sent on loan to Sheffield United after making just 14 appearances in La Liga without scoring.
With six goals and one assist for Sheffield United in 14 Premier League games, his return was far better than what he’d received in Spain.
Regretfully, it was insufficient to prevent the Blades from being demoted to the Championship.
Brereton Diaz is currently scheduled to return to Villarreal, where he is not believed to be part of the team’s plans. The local newspaper for the Spanish club, El Periódico Mediterráneo, reports that a sale is being contemplated.
There is no word on whether Sheffield United would entertain a bid of between €7 and €10 million for the midfielder, while Villarreal said they “would listen to offers.”
