The Blades “confident” over big Sheffield United contract boost”

Chris Wilder says that Sheffield United are “confident and hopeful” of tying down striker Daniel Jebbison to a new contract after previous fears he would walk away this summer. The England youth international is a free agent at the end of this season but United are in talks over a new deal.

These discussions began before the beginning of the current campaign, under Wilder’s predecessor Paul Heckingbottom, as Jebbison had been out since his promotion due to a mix of injury and a personal health concern. After speaking with Jebbison and his family early this year, Wilder believed he had made progress towards securing a breakthrough. Prior to this, certain Bramall Lane officials had previously accepted the potential that the striker might leave this summer.

While talks are still in progress, signing Jebbison would be the newest piece in United’s jigsaw as they attempt to lock down their most talented young players. Will Osula, Andre Brooks, and Louie Marsh are among the other young players who have lately committed to Bramall Lane. The Shirecliffe academy is thought to be a crucial part of the United team, regardless of the division the Blades play in the next season.

When asked about Jebbison’s contract status, Wilder responded, “We’re all positive right now. We’re in talks with the chief executive.” We held a Zoom meeting last week with the board, the owners, and Steve [Bettis, CEO]. Thus, it is still going on.

“The boy, his parents, and his agent all have the mindset that he sees his future at Sheffield United, so we’re optimistic and confident.” And we experience those same emotions, so perhaps we can settle in, act responsibly, and recruit another talented young player.”

After making his Premier League debut, Jebbison became the youngest player in history to score on his debut. However, shortly after his arrival, Everton rejected a £5 million bid for the forward, who was born in Canada. In the years that followed, Liverpool, another team in the city, also revealed that they were interested in the 20-year-old.
