Championship clubs want Sheffield Wednesday man*

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is working wonders at Hillsborough and yesterday he masterminded a 2-0 win over QPR. Now, it’s becoming apparent that other clubs are monitoring his availability.

Rohl was appointed into the role at Wednesday in November after a torrid start to 2023/24. Xisco Munoz was sacked after failing to win any of the 10 games he oversaw.

The German incumbent is in his first role in management and with five games of the season remaining, Wednesday have a fighting chance of remaining in the Championship.

Now, it’s becoming apparent that other clubs are keen on the manager. Wednesday could face a fight to keep him at the end of the season regardless of the division that the Owls find themselves in.

The Black Cats are going to appoint a permanent successor to Michael Beale in the summer. According to Alan Nixon from The Sun, Rohl is under consideration by Sunderland after the work he’s done with Wednesday.

Rohl is going to be very sought-after and it could prove impossible for Wednesday to keep hold of him regardless of where they end up playing their football next season.

The win yesterday leaves the Owls in 23rd place but they are only a point away from safety. Sunderland are currently 13th and their season is petering out with a bit of a whimper.

It’s claimed in the latest report that Wednesday would command a big transfer fee if any club wants to take their manager. Furthermore, it’s believed that Rohl would have to work with a small backroom team and that might complicate matters.

Frankly, Rohl is the best thing to happen to Wednesday in a long time. Although it was a shame to see Darren Moore depart last summer, the German coming in has transformed the season.

Dejphon Chansiri has left some Wednesday fans aghast with some of the decisions he’s made. However, he might have hit the jackpot with Rohl and now he must decline any advances from other clubs.

The 34-year-old is going to do big things in management and his career is just beginning. Now, Wednesday could have a fight on their hands and hopefully, Rohl can remain in the Hillsborough hot seat next season and beyond.
