Bailey Cadamarteri is tipped to make an ‘exciting’ impact on Sheffield Wednesday’s first team.
That’s according to his father Danny Cadamarteri, who used to play for the likes of Everton, Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town.
The 18-year-old joined Sheffield Wednesday‘s academy in 2014 and has since risen up through the youth ranks, previously being linked with a move to the Premier League before signing his first professional contract in June 2022.
Cadamarteri made his senior debut in the EFL Trophy four months later before returning to the U21s, before a serious injury put a halt on his development.
However, despite missing some of the summer’s pre-season as he recovered, Cadamarteri is back in great form and has gained an impressive tally of 10 goals in eight matches for the development squad.
The teenager has been tipped for big things by fans, and now Cadamarteri senior has delivered an ‘exciting’ message about his promising son.
Speaking to the Football League Paper, the former striker said: “Bailey is an old-fashioned number nine who can also run in behind. He’s 6ft 1in and spent time with the first team in pre-season, having played a cup game last season.
“The Championship is a huge step up, but I also think fans want some excitement and he’s now in and around the first team squad. He’s a good finisher, as he’s been showing for the U21s.”
Can Cadamarteri add the goals to this struggling side?
Bailey Cadamarteri is yet to make his Championship debut, but could well be on his way after a brilliant start to the campaign for the U21s.
The Owls are really struggling for goals this season (5), having scored almost half of QPR’s nine and Rotherham United’s ten.
Their top goalscorer is Anthony Musaba with only two goals, while Michael Smith hasn’t found the net since the 4-2 defeat to Hull City in August.
While we are all still waiting to see whether Danny Rohl can turn things around at Hillsborough, he could do a lot worse than bringing Cadamarteri into the fold to challenge for a place in the starting line-up.
Sheffield Wednesday have the joint-highest average age in the Championship (27.7) and could definitely benefit from an injection of youth into their struggling team.
