Against Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday blew a fantastic chance to move out of the Championship relegation zone.
Wednesday squandered numerous opportunities in the first half that would have assured them of victory, but when Liam Palmer gave them a well-earned lead early in the second half, it appeared as though everything was finally going to come together for them. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be.
After breaking free and putting a shot past James Beadle to tie the score at one, Luke Cundle dropped back to 23rd place on Wednesday rather than rising out of the bottom three. The video at the top of the page allows you to view the goals and misses.
Given how dominant his team had been for the majority of the match, Danny Röhl was understandably disappointed when the final whistle blew. Steven Schumacher also mentioned the Hillsborough crowd in his post-match remarks.
