Danny Röhl’s disturbing Sheffield Wednesday injury update ahead of huge Blackburn Rovers trip

The Owls head to Blackburn Rovers this weekend with the knowledge that, if results go their way on Saturday, they will have another chance to climb out of the Championship relegation zone, however it could also be the case that kick off arrives with them locked in the bottom three for another week.

Röhl has spoken about making sure they focus on themselves at this point in time as they head into the final three games, and by all accounts it would appear that he will be dealing with the same group of players that he selected from for the visit of Stoke City last weekend.

Di’Shon Bernard and Ian Poveda are currently Wednesday’s two main absences. Both players have missed games recently, so it’s unfortunate that neither is anticipated to travel to Ewood Park. On the plus side, though, the Owls don’t currently have any new injury concerns to worry about.

He stated, “It’s almost the same squad, nobody comes back at the moment, but we still have two days to go,” in an interview with The Star. We generally have one day, but we have two left until Sunday, so that’s new. I have to choose a squad because I don’t think any of the players will return, therefore it will just be the same players.

“Hopefully, Di’Shon and Ian return before the season ends, but we’ll see. Di’Shon, we’ll try to get him back on the grass, but I’m hoping to see him in the coming week. While having both available would be beneficial, my attention is currently on the players who are available.”

On Sunday, the Owls take on Blackburn at 12.30pm. The day before, almost 7,000 Wednesdayites go to Lancashire for the penultimate away game of the 2023–24 season, which features all of their relegation rivals in action.
