Danny Röhl’s hefty Wednesday points target as Owls eye great escape’

Sheffield Wednesday’s seasons had been written off by many not long back, but heading into the business end of the season they still have a chance

With 11 games remaining, Hillsborough finds itself three points from safety and has a genuine chance to move up out of the bottom three in the upcoming weeks thanks to Danny Röhl’s appointment, which inspired everyone, both on and off the field.

Just five teams in the division have outperformed Wednesday’s 12-point performance, according to the form table for the previous six games; sadly for them, Queens Park Rangers is one of those teams. Conversely, Huddersfield Town is ranked eighth in the same form table.

Due to the recent sequence of results, there is a fierce struggle for relegation, with Wednesday just five points ahead of Plymouth Argyle in 15th position, and several teams further up the league are worried about Wednesday.
The only season in the previous seven when a team finished with more than 44 points was the 2019–20 campaign, in which all three demoted teams succeeded. However, Rohl thinks that more will be needed if the Owls are to pull off the incredible comeback.

“I think it could be 50 this season,” he stated. “It might have been 45 years ago, but given the state of the race right now, it might not be sufficient. I won’t, however, look too far ahead. The following one is the most significant to me. I usually set modest objectives, and our next target is 40 points. After that, we may discuss what comes next.”
In light of this, Wednesday has to win 15 of the 33 points that are still available, which may seem like a difficult task, but the team is in a positive frame of mind and the fight is back at S6, where the atmosphere is higher than it has been all season.
