Hopefully: Danny Rohl gives injury update on Di’Shon Bernard

Sheffield Wednesday have picked up yet another injury concern.

Sheffield  Wednesday hosted Swansea City in the Championship on Good Friday, eventually settling for a point after an entertaining 1-1 draw at Hillsborough.

Although Bailey Cadamarteri scored his first league goal of 2024 in the first half, the Swans responded to tie the score in the second half.

Swansea may have been relieved to end up with a draw after Sheffield Wednesday made multiple attempts to score a second goal and win all the points

Di’Shon Bernard withdrawn from Sheffield Wednesday side vs Swansea

Di’Shon Bernard was included in Swansea City’s starting lineup for the match.

The 23-year-old is back from his international assignment with Jamaica, where he contributed to the Reggae Boys’ CONCACAF Nations League third-place result.

Following his release from Old Trafford last summer, the former Manchester United youth had a successful season.

He has established himself as a pillar at the back for Danny Rohl’s team, making 20 appearances in the Championship thus far this year and contributing two assists.

Danny Rohl shares Di’Shon Bernard injury update

However, Bernard was left out of the starting lineup after suffering an injury during the Swansea City game’s warm-up.

He was replaced in the starting lineup by Bambo Diaby, who performed admirably.

Diaby was replaced on the bench by Pierce Charles, giving Rohl two goalkeepers to choose from.

And following the match, Rohl provided the following injury update for Bernard to reporter Joe Crann:

“Hopefully, Di’Shon was brought out at the appropriate time, but with muscles, you never know. When you play once more in two days, it can mean that he is injured.

Bambo Diaby can now silence Sheffield Wednesday critics

Diaby has caused division for Sheffield Wednesday as a player.

Since joining the Owls in the summer of last year, he has made 28 Championship appearances, playing a significant role for both Xisco Munoz and Rohl.

But Diaby was dropped from the starting lineup following a disastrous performance in the 4-0 loss to Southampton earlier in the season.

Late-game substitutions have been his recent role in games.

Due to injuries in the team, Diaby did, nonetheless, start against Leeds and Swansea; however, against the Swans, Diaby appeared to be in good shape.

Even if Sofascore only showed him with one interception, two tackles, and two headers won, the Spaniard hardly ever misdirected a pass or put his side in needless danger.

Although his awkwardness at the back is Diaby’s biggest complaint, he seemed reasonably confident against Swansea.

On Monday, the Owls will play another pivotal Championship match when they visit Middlesbrough.

Diaby might be given another start because of the rapid turnaround, which might be too fast for Bernard. He will be eager to make his way back into the starting lineup following a spell of banishment.
