It would appear that technical midfield man Rio Shipston, who has five appearances to his name at senior level, will sit out the rest of the campaign with an unspecified injury after he posted on social media ‘Unfortunately season cut short due to injury. Road to recovery starts now.’
It is yet unknown what kind of damage was sustained and how much. Shipston was benched for Tuesday’s under-21 victory over Wigan Athletic in favour of Ciaran Brennan, who started in midfield.
At Hillsborough, Andy Holdsworth’s team easily defeated their Wigan opponents 2-0, maintaining a two-point lead over league leaders Birmingham City. Sheffield United, the Owls’ city rival, has four games remaining and is now four points behind.
