Sheffield Wednesday boss comments on manager over…

Before halftime, Danny Rohl managed Sheffield Wednesday in his first Steel City derby, and his team fought hard.

The first Steel City derby in five years saw Sheffield Wednesday lose 1-0 at Sheffield United prior to the November international break.

The Owls faced a formidable opponent in Sheffield United, who had just finished in the Premier League and had a far superior team.

However, Danny Rohl’s team performed admirably and have scheduled a thrilling rematch at Hillsborough in March.

Chris Wilder, the Blades manager, made national news after the game. While singing “sausage roll” to the tune of Wednesday’s supporters’ “Danny, Danny Rohl” song, Wilder was seen on camera in a pub.

And Rohl eventually shared his thoughts on those Wilder videos during his pre-Cardiff City press conference on Thursday.

Rohl refused to get drawn into a personal rivalry with Wilder. Instead, the Owls boss shrugged it off.

He told the press: “If you ask me, if the opponent has a song about me, maybe it is not the worst thing.

Maybe they recognise they have a big respect, I take it like this. I would not do this, but if the opponent stadium sings about me and not their own team, hey, they can think what they want.

“I can not guarantee but I can promise you. This topic, it makes no sense to speak (about it). He (Wilder) is experienced enough.

“What he does or what he is not doing, I have my opinion, I have my style of how I celebrate wins or not. All good.”

This season’s second Steel City derby takes place in March. Naturally, the January transfer window is coming up, and it’s a big month for the Owls and the Blades.

This season, both teams have different goals for the Championship. In light of financial uncertainty, Rohl anticipates that the January transfer window will be dominated by loan agreements and perhaps a reduction in the first team roster.

In what seemed like a plea to owner Dejphon Chansiri, Rohl stated on Thursday that he wanted loan signings at Sheffield Wednesday.

And if the Owls can get one or two quality loan players through the doors and perform like they did at Bramall Lane, then the Steel City derby at Hillsborough could be a very different story.

At Hillsborough, Sheffield Wednesday will play Cardiff City at midday on Saturday.
The two clubs are separated by just three points. After a somewhat dismal first third of the season, the Bluebirds are currently in 22nd place in the Championship standings, whereas Wednesday is currently in 15th place.

Before the break, Danny Rohl’s team lost 1-0 at Bramall Lane in the Steel City derby against Sheffield United, and the Owls are hoping to recover.

Cardiff is likewise trying to recover from a loss after dropping their past two Championship games after going six games without a loss.
