Sheffield Wednesday complete third signing

Sheffield Wednesday are nearing the addition of Yan Valery with a medical booked in today, as per The Star.

In order to be ready for another Championship season, Sheffield Wednesday is making all the transfers possible during this summer transfer window.

After a stunning comeback, Danny Rohl kept the Owls in the playoffs on the penultimate day of the previous season, but the German manager is now entirely focused on getting his team ready for the next one.
The previous season, 25-year-old Valery played for Angers in France. In 35 games, he received five league assists from the right back.

The international from Tunisia moved to Southampton, where he was employed by Rohl on the south coast, and then moved to France.

The Owls and the French club reportedly reached an agreement last week, and it has since been claimed that his physical is scheduled for today with this agreement deal almost over the finish line.

A statement of intent

Valery is well known to Rohl, and it’s thought that the German had a significant role in the Tunisian’s decision to go to Hillsborough.

The defender was also being pursued by Montpellier and Standard Liege, but it appears that the Owls, led by Rohl, have a great deal of recruiting power.
Although Valery didn’t play much in the final months of his Southampton career, he has a good deal of experience in the Championship. Before returning to England, the last two seasons in France’s second division should have helped him regain his agility.

Only heading one way

Despite the fact that Sheffield Wednesday barely survived relegation the previous season, unlike many other teams, many now anticipate the Owls to move up the standings quickly the following season.

After a summer window, Rohl is expected to lead the club forward, having revitalised it.
Although it’s still unclear how far Sheffield Wednesday can go this season, under Rohl, you can never write them out.

They are undoubtedly a squad to watch as the 2024–2025 season draws near.
