Appointing the appropriate head coach is necessary.

Sunderland is keeping an eye on Danny Rohl’s future with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Black Cats are closely monitoring the German coach’s future at their Championship rivals, according to The Northern Echo.

Since Rohl’s contract with the Owls is thought to have another 12 months left on it, payment arrangements will need to be made if the Wearside team decides to hire the 35-year-old.

Michael Beale, who was fired as head coach of Sunderland in February after just 63 days in the position, is being replaced.

After Beale was fired, Mike Dodds took over as head coach of the first team until the end of the season. A permanent successor is anticipated this summer.

Rohl was reportedly considered by Sunderland to be among their top prospects for the position at the Stadium of Light.

When it came to Wednesday’s ascent out of the relegation zone heading into this weekend’s last round of games, Rohl took control in October.

With Hillsborough’s terrible start to the season under Xisco Munoz, many predicted the team would be relegated right back to League One. However, the young coach has received a great deal of praise for his work there.

However, a win over the Black Cats on Saturday will guarantee their continued existence in the second level for another season.

Danny Rohl set for Sheffield Wednesday talks

After the campaign is over, Rohl is reportedly scheduled to speak with Wednesday.

The German disclosed that he will be asking the board for guarantees regarding their aspirations for the club’s future.

According to Rohl, via The Star, “I need a clear strategy of what we can do and what we want to do.”
“I am incredibly hungry for more, and it’s evident from the vibe in the stadium that everyone here at this club wants even more.

“The Championship experience has shown us that we need to be ready for a challenging season, and the biggest mistake you can make, in my opinion, is to believe that what we are doing now is sufficient.

We know exactly what we need to work on, and if we can accomplish this, I believe we can have a successful preseason. The following season then begins.

Paul Heckingbottom is reportedly being considered for the position, and Reims manager Will Still has also been cited as a possible applicant.

Rohl would be an exciting appointment at Sunderland

Given that Rohl would make a fantastic head coach, it should come as no surprise that Sunderland is closely monitoring his status.

With the turnaround he’s accomplished, Rohl has done an incredible job leading the Owls, and he would win manager of the year most seasons.

Sunderland needs to recruit a new head coach as soon as possible following the Beale gaffe, which eventually hurt their chances of being promoted this season.

Rohl might be the player to put the team back in the running to make a trip back to the Premier League if he does become available.
