Sheffield Wednesday have made a loan bid for Ipswich Town defender Harry Clarke, according to The Star.
Sheffield Wednesday are keen on luring the right-back to Hillsborough before the end of the January transfer window. SWFC have until the deadline on Monday to conclude any deals.
Clarke, 23, helped Ipswich Town gain promotion from the Championship last year under Kieran McKenna. He has made eight appearances in all competitions so far this season, seven of which have come in the Premier League.
In this latest update regarding his situation this winter, The Star report the Owls have firmed up their interest in the player by lodging a formal approach. It remains to be seen at this stage whether they will be able to strike an agreement.
Danny Rohl’s side won 2-0 away at QPR last time out after goals by Michael Smith and Callum Paterson and they are sat in 10th in the table, three points off the play-offs.
Sheffield Wednesday bid for Harry Clarke
It has been a quiet month so far for Sheffield Wednesday and they are yet to sign anyone.
Clarke could be seen by the Owls as someone to bolster their defensive ranks.
McKenna has said, as per TWTD: “There’s a possibility that Harry Clarke will go out on loan, a possibility at the moment. Me and Harry have had those conversations. He’s an important player for us, a very good player.
“He had a big surgery [on both achilles tendons] and played through some injury at the back end of last season. He had big surgery in the summer, so he missed a few months of football.
“He has had some minutes now in the Premier League and some exposure but for his age as a young defender it’s important to be getting minutes regularly for his progression and for his role at the club.”
Ipswich Town signed Clarke in 2023 and he has helped them rise from League One to the top flight.
The full-back has played 67 matches altogether since his switch to Suffolk.
He rose up through the ranks at Arsenal and had loan spells away from the London outfit at Oldham Athletic, Ross County, Hibernian and Stoke City to get some experience under his belt.
