Sheffield Wednesday want to send Newcastle United loanee Jeff Hendrick back to St. James’ Park to free up a loan slot, but the Magpies star’s return is doubtful, according to the Star.
The 31-year-old midfielder joined Newcastle on a free transfer from Burnley in August 2020.
Hendrick has made 27 appearances for the Magpies and is ranked lower in Eddie Howe’s squad.
Sheffield Wednesday were looking for an experienced midfielder this summer and agreed to a season-long loan with Newcastle for Hendricks.
Hendrick appeared 10 times for the Owls in the league this season, although he has fallen out of favour with manager Danny Rohl.
The Owls are rearranging their roster, and it has been reported that they intend to send Hendrick back to Newcastle to free up a loan space.
However, it has been claimed that Hendrick’s season-long loan agreement is unlikely to be terminated.
The Newcastle star is presently recovering from an injury, and it remains to be seen whether the Owls will be able to persuade the Magpies to sign him back.
