Sheffield Wednesday set to hijack ‘great’ striker’s deal from Leeds United

Wednesday survived relegation back to League One at the first attempt last season largely thanks to the work of German manager Danny Rohl, who has since impressed as a pundit at Euro 2024 with ITV Sport.

This time around, Rohl is assembling a team that will aim to place far higher than their pitiful 20th place, and they have been quite industrious. Nine signings had been made by Rohl as of Wednesday.

Max Lowe, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Jamal Lowe are among them. Remarkably, they were unable to get Ian Poveda on a free transfer from Leeds, as Poveda agreed to a three-year contract with Sunderland under Regis Le Bris.

Leeds fans may remember the name of Sory Kaba, a striker that was on the radar at Elland Road last summer. The Whites were one of six Championship clubs interested in Kaba, but he joined Las Palmas.

That move has not gone to plan, scoring just one goal in 20 games. Las Palmas survived the drop but little of that was anything to do with Kaba and he is expected to depart the Spanish side in the coming weeks.

Africa Foot claim that Wednesday are now in talks to sign the “great” striker this summer on a loan-to-buy deal from Las Palmas. But it is claimed that Wednesday are not the only side to look at star Kaba.
