Sheffield Wednesday star now expected to return v QPR, it’ll be a big boost for Danny Rohl*

Sheffield Wednesday are back on the road once again this weekend, travelling to QPR in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday were away from Hillsborough on Easter Monday.

They headed to the north-east to face Middlesbrough and eventually lost 2-0, with that defeat seemingly bringing to light the desperate situation the club is in right now.

The Owls are now four games without a win and with just one point from those four.

Middlesbrough played a relatively average game but breezed past a Wednesday side who look unbothered by the fact that they remain in the bottom three.

One team who’s managed to pull out of the drop zone though is QPR.

For much of the season, it was QPR and Sheffield Wednesday who occupied 22nd and 23rd place of the table.

But the R’s now sit in 16th place of the table after back-to-back wins, and one defeat in their last eight games in the Championship.

They now sit six points above the drop zone and another win here would bring them a step closer to beating the drop.

As for Wednesday, they’re two points adrift, though a win this weekend and other results going their way could bring them out of the bottom three.

And for the clash vs QPR, Rohl is set to welcome back attacker Josh Windass.

The 30-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, hasn’t featured since January owing to a muscle injury.

But a recent report from The Star says that Windass is expected to feature against QPR this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday need something right now; a bit of luck maybe, or some players picking up form.

It’s been a tough run of late. But the return of an experienced, tried and tested attacker in Windass can only be a positive.

And it could also prompt Ike Ugbo to rediscover his scoring touch too; the Canadian hasn’t scored in any of his last six now.

Expect Windass to start on the bench and maybe come off it in the second half.

Even still, if Wednesday can keep themselves in the game going into the second half then Windass could potentially come on and make a huge difference.

Described as a ‘game-changer’ by Rohl in the past, Windass could prove exactly that between now and the end of the season.
