Sheffield Wednesday are preparing to bolster one position following the arrival of Ike Ugbo.
Sheffield Wednesday entered the January transfer window hoping to strengthen their squad in order to remain in the Championship for another year.
The Owls had previously confirmed James Beadle’s arrival from Brighton, and Ike Ugbo signed on loan shortly after.
The striker, who has spent the last six months at Cardiff City, joins a squad that has been severely deficient in goals in the first half of the season.

According to The Star, Danny Rohl is searching for a’mobile number six’ to boost his midfield options in the last weeks of the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday’s effort to sign Conor Coventry failed, as the 23-year-old instead chose to join Tyreeq Bakinson at the Valley. Meanwhile, Hayden is still on their radar, but West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough are reportedly interested.
The Yorkshire team is running out of time and choices to add to their midfield before deadline day, with increased competition making it difficult for the club to compete financially.
What does the future of Sheffield Wednesday’s midfield look like?
Sheffield Wednesday may face an even bigger midfield crisis in the summer, with Jeff Hendrick (loan), Will Vaulks, George Byers, Barry Bannan, and Momo Diaby (loan) all potentially leaving at the conclusion of their contracts.
While it is highly doubtful, if The Owls do not renew any of their contracts, Rohl will be without a single central midfielder – unless the club chooses to activate Bakinson’s option for an additional year.
It was reported earlier this week that, despite many expected Bakinson to leave in the summer, Sheffield Wednesday had the option to keep him at Hillsborough for another year.
However, given his lack of playing time, it is unlikely that the 25-year-old will stay with the club. It appears that the only reason they would chose to prolong his contract is to sell him for a charge rather than lose him for free in six months.
