The Owls planning to ‘revisit’ Leeds United deal in summer transfer window

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly keen to sign Ian Poveda from Leeds United on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window.

On the last day of the winter transfer window, the deft winger signed a loan deal with the Owls, albeit a permanent move first looked likely.

He has become an indispensable member of Danny Rohl’s team, adjusting to life in South Yorkshire like a duck to water. The Colombian international dominated Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Bristol City, putting up yet another outstanding performance over the weekend.

The Star claims that Wednesday would like to discuss the potential of deciding on a permanent relocation again in the summer. However, the club’s performance in the Championship relegation battle will probably decide the possibility of a deal being reached.

Poveda’s contract at Elland Road expires in the summer, so if the Whites decide not to present a new contract offer, he will probably draw interest. Poveda was also connected to Birmingham City in January, but Wednesday was able to finalise a deal.

After the victory over Bristol City, Rohl acknowledged that the team would be able to present “very good arguments” to keep hold of specific individuals if they survived.

“We have some very good arguments to keep some players here if we do our homework and meet our goals,” he stated. They put their trust in us, and we have greatly boosted their confidence. Your confidence may be low if you are from a club where you haven’t played. We’ve restored that. We’ll see.
