Sheffield Wednesday‘s centre-back went off injured in their last match at The Hawthorns against West Brom. SWFC went on to lose 2-1 to the Baggies and conceded in stoppage time.
Bernard, 24, has been a key player for the Owls this season in the Championship. He has made 31 appearances in all competitions, 27 of which have come in the league, and he has chipped in with three goals.
In this latest update regarding his condition by The Star, it is said to be ‘probable’ that he will be sidelined until the summer which is a big blow. Danny Rohl’s side are currently eyeing a place in the play-offs.
The South Yorkshire outfit are sat in 11th place in the table and are only three points off the top six.
Sheffield Wednesday injury blow regarding Di’Shon Bernard
Bernard is an important member of Sheffield Wednesday’s defence and his influence will be missed.
They will have to make do without him for the rest of the campaign as he heads on his road to recovery.
The Owls have other options to pick from in his position like Michael Ihiekwe, Gabriel Otegbayo and Max Lowe, with Dom Iorfa and Akin Famewo also injured right now.
Bernard moved to Hillsborough in 2023 following Sheffield Wednesday’s promotion from League One and he helped them stay up last term.
The Jamaica international, who has 19 caps under his belt, started his career at Chelsea before linking up with fellow Premier League side Manchester United.
He then represented the Red Devils at various different youth levels before playing once for their first-team.
Bernard was loaned out away from Old Trafford at Salford City, Hull City and Portsmouth to get some experience under his belt.
He then left United permanently before he was snapped up by Sheffield Wednesday and he hasn’t looked back since.
What now for Sheffield Wednesday?
Rohl’s side are back in action on Wednesday night with an away trip to Swansea City as they look to bounce back from their defeat at West Brom.
