Following the event, a 50-year-old male was taken into custody on suspicion of intentionally causing great bodily damage.
Following an incident that happened in Southampton’s downtown early this morning (Saturday, April 27), the police are asking for information.
On the side of the road opposite Café Parfait in Above Bar Street, between the Commercial Road sign and a lamp post, the incident is said to have happened at around 3:30 am. A man was assaulted and rendered unconscious.
The victim of this assault has not yet been identified or spoken to by the police, who are making a direct appeal for him to come forward so they can speak with him about what happened and make sure he is okay. The authorities are also eager to speak with anyone who saw this occurrence.
The 50-year-old is still being held in jail. Police are asking anyone with information to call 101 and use the reference 44240175580.
