“Most difficult moment of my career” – Star defender opens up on Southampton

Kevin Danso was loaned to Southampton for a year prior to joining RC Lens, which changed his per ception in the European footballscene.

He later played for FC Augsburg in Germany, but in August 2019, he moved to St Mary’s and spent the entire season in the south of England.

The now 25-year-old only made ten appearances for the team during that time, and he opened up about how difficult Southampton was for him in an interview with 90Football that was transcribed by La Voix du Nord.

This came up in a discussion about mental health and how he feels he can talk to anyone at Lens these days about any issues he’s having.
It was a little more difficult at Southampton, though, as he talked candidly about his time there with the Championship team.
“The most challenging moment of my career,” he remarked. For me, it was an extremely difficult time. I was between 20 and 21. I had never encountered adversity before. The self-assurance was fading. You begin to convince yourself that perhaps you are not deserving. It’s difficult to deal with wanting to be the best.
