Southampton midfielder Charly Alcaraz is set to leave the club before Friday’s deadline.
Flamengo and the Saints have already reached an agreement, and according to Fabrizio Romano, medical testing is scheduled for today, Wednesday, August 28, in London.
After joining St Mary’s in the January 2023 transfer window, the 21-year-old midfielder will cost Southampton about €18 million.
Since rejoining the Premier League, Southampton has signed almost ten players throughout this incredible transfer window.
Before the window closes, Russell Martin is still hoping to acquire players, and they’ll likely try to reinvest the proceeds from the sale of Alcaraz.
“Medical tests in London today for Charly Alcaraz as new Flamengo player, plan confirmed,” Romano posted on X. Southampton will get about €18 million.
Southampton could look to sign more players
Tom Fellows, a highly regarded teenage forward for West Brom, has caught the attention of the Saints, who last week made a £10 million approach for him.
West Brom has no intention of parting with their valuable possession. They turned down the deal because they believe he is one of the club’s most promising young players.
To entice him to leave the Hawthorns, Southampton would have to pay a hefty transfer fee.
Martin might try to get a new custodian, and they’ll probably give Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale another look.
He was much sought after by Wolves, but the transaction has now fallen through. With an obligation to purchase the England keeper permanently the following summer, Arsenal is willing to let him to go on loan.
According to The Daily Mail, the Saints are also interested in signing Corinthians attacker Yuri Alberto. As the deadline draws near, Southampton is eager to add Filip Kostic as well, so the next 72 hours could be very hectic at the team.
