It appears that Southampton are doing all they can to get a Premier League player this January, as they pursue Burnley’s Benson Manuel.
The Saints are allegedly attempting to “find an agreement” with the Clarets for a transfer, according to Belgian writer Sacha Tavolieri.
Actually, Burnley received a “second improved offer” from Southampton on Tuesday.
The fact that the forward “wants to go” to the south of England to finish the season on a loan with a buyout option helps them.
The Belgium U21 international has struggled to get playing time since Burnley’s Championship season, even though he was a key player in Burnley’s victory. This is especially true since he was promoted to the Premier League.
He is eager to move to Southampton because they can obviously provide him more minutes than he is receiving at Turf Moor, especially since he has only made five appearances in all competitions under Vincent Kompany this season.
In 37 games during the previous season, the now 26-year-old scored 14 goals and provided five assists.
