Sanctions have been imposed on Southampton and Stoke City by an independent Regulatory Commission after a hearing into both teams’ conduct during a match in October.
Due to their respective acts during their October Championship encounter, Southampton and Stoke City have both been fined.
Stuart Armstrong’s free kick proved to be the difference between the two teams when they met at the bet365 Stadium at the beginning of the month, as Saints won all three points.
However, the 87th-minute altercation that resulted in three players receiving yellow cards has cost the Potters and Saints £12,000 and £8,000, respectively.
According to the allegations, Stoke neglected to make sure that their players and/or those occupying the technical area did not act inappropriately, violently, provocatively, or after the final whistle. This occurred in the 87th minute.
Additionally, it was claimed Southampton did not take the necessary precautions to guarantee that its players and/or technical area occupants did not act inappropriately, violently, provocatively, or after the final whistle.
Flynn Downes won the disputed free-kick but was booked for his response to the challenge; Daniel Johnson and Mehdi Léris were also carded for their roles in the brawl.
Following a hearing, the independent Regulatory Commission imposed punishments on both clubs after they acknowledged the allegations against them.
