Southampton to hold tribute for murdered teen detaills..

A tribute night will be held in Southampton this weekend to remember murdered teenager Brianna Ghey.

The event, which Trans Pride Southampton is hosting at the city’s Art House venue on Sunday, February 11—exactly one year after 16-year-old Brianna’s death—will take place.

The event is intended to foster community and address loneliness among the trans community.

On the afternoon of February 11, 2023, Brianna was led to Linear Park, Culcheth, a community close to Warrington, Cheshire, and stabbed 28 times in her head, neck, chest, and back with a hunting knife.

The identities of Brianna’s killers were made public on February 2.

Eddie Ratcliffe and Scarlett Jenkinson will each serve a minimum of 20 and 22 years in prison for attacking the 16-year-old.

“With the names being released and the large media attention once again, a lot of trans people and our allies are feeling pain and complex emotions,” a Trans Pride Southampton representative stated.

“Trans Pride Southampton and the Art House will co-host a night on February 11th to honour Brianna Ghey and celebrate the trans community.

“Our goal is to combat isolation and enable individuals to get together, heal, and support one another during this trying time.

“A lot of trans persons do deal with isolation; many of them may be more ostracised because of their race or other concerns.

Thus, we are hoping that our event can assist these people as well as other transgender community members and our allies.

“On February 11th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., The Art House on Above Bar Street will host the event.

“Refreshments including teas, coffees and cake will be available.”
