Southampton to loose key striker in January…

Jones believes Che Adams may the subject of much speculation again in January.

Given his skill and the fact that he had a stellar start to the 2023–24 season, it is not surprising that the Scotland international attracted a lot of attention in the summer.

After the Saints were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the previous season, Ross Stewart has got the chance to attempt and establish a regular starting berth and be a big success at a lesser level while he is still out of play.

He had a strong start to the season, but he hasn’t been able to sustain it, managing just four goals in 18 league games this year.

That record isn’t bad, but after scoring three goals in his first three games of the season, he would have preferred to have scored more.

Even though he has occasionally played off the bench, he has still had plenty of chances to contribute significantly and find the scoresheet.

Adam Armstrong is playing brilliantly for the Saints despite his lack of goals, and it may give manager Russell Martin hope that the team can succeed even without Adams.

Regarding Che Adams, Dean Jones states, “There’s no denying that there will be rumours surrounding him in January.”

Jones thinks it’s inevitable that Adams would spark rumours in January because his contract expires in 2024 and a number of teams, including Everton, AFC Bournemouth, and Wolves, were connected to him in the summer.

“It’s inevitable that there will be rumours about him in January,” he stated.

“In my opinion, the Premier League’s lowest five teams will be considering their ability to score goals and how to keep themselves safe. He will be a clear target in that regard for them to consider while searching for transfer options.
