According to the most recent Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive, there has been progress in the contract negotiations for Ollie Watkins.
Ollie Watkins, a striker for Aston Villa, is apparently about to put an end to rumors about his future and sign a new deal.
According to TalkSPORT, Watkins, 27, is prepared to sign a new contract with Villa after drawn-out talks since the conclusion of the previous campaign. Watkins has been an important player for Villa ever since he joined the team in 2020 for an initial £28 million.
In each of the striker’s three Premier League seasons with Villa, he has scored more than ten goals. His greatest season came in the previous one, when he scored 15 goals in 37 games while also dishing out six assists.
Watkins received a second England call-up during the close of the previous campaign and has scored twice in seven appearances so far. The former Exeter City and Brentford striker defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with his first Premier League goal of the year.
According to a talkSPORT report, “there is a strong willingness on both sides to agree terms as Watkins is seen as a key part of manager Unai Emery’s plans.”
This week, new rumours suggested a connection between Watkins and longtime fans Arsenal. Watkins’ contract at Villa Park expires in 2025; he was a lifelong Gunners supporter.
