has been singled out for praise by Ezri Konsa following a stellar start to life in Birmingham. Torres is a newcomer to Aston Villa.
Aston Villa won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday thanks to yet another strong performance.
Ollie Watkins’ goal for Villa in the 73rd minute separated the teams and gave them their fourth victory of the year.
The Villains are now in sixth place under Unai Emery, and a few of their summer acquisitions have already made an impact at Villa Park.
In addition to Pau Torres, who has looked reliable since replacing the inj
ured Tyrone Mings, Moussa Diaby has also stood out.
Ezri Konsa, his new center back partner, has been especially taken aback by the Spaniard’s performances.
Torres on KonsaSpeaking to The Athletic, Konsa acknowledged that losing Mings to injury at such a young stage of the season was a major loss.
However, the Englishman believes Torres has performed admirably in his absence.
“Ty (Mings) is a big miss for us, but Pau has done really well,” he declared. I’m simply glad he’s gotten used to it.
Torres, who had previously played for Emery in Spain, made the £33 million transition from Villarreal to the Midlands over the summer.
The 26-year-old was a standout for Villarreal in La Liga and a crucial member of the team that won the Europa League a few years ago.
It goes without saying that Emery was responsible for this success, therefore Villa’s decision to sign him in the summer was not unexpected.
Torres has done a fantastic job adjusting to life at Villa, and the defender is well aware of the rigors of playing for Emery.
