Council reassure residents after shocking stabbing in St Helens 27th June

THE council has reassured residents that incidents such as the shocking double stabbing on Four Acre Lane are rare occasions.

As reported by the Star, officers were called at around 5am today, (Thursday, June 27) following reports a man in his 30s had been assaulted on Four Acre Lane and suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and hands.

A short time later officers were notified that a second man, also in his 30s, was at a house in a neighbouring street with stab wounds to the chest and back.

Both men were taken by ambulance to hospital where they are said to be in a “stable condition”, and an investigation was immediately launched with house-to-house, CCTV, and witness enquiries.

A large police cordon was also enforced on Four Acre Lane, with the road closure affecting traffic and causing bus diversions.

Following the incident, Cllr Mancyia Uddin, Cabinet Member for Safer, Stronger Communities, said: “Firstly our thoughts are with the families of those affected by this shocking incident and we wish them a speedy recovery.

“While we understand people may be concerned about this incident it is important to remember they are rare and police are providing high visibility patrols in the area as an extra reassurance at this time.

“If you have any information that may help with police investigations please do share this with them.”

“Our enquiries are clearly at the very early stages as we seek to establish what has happened,” Detective Inspector Alan Wood stated. “We will endeavour to speak to the two men involved as soon as possible.”

We would like to know as soon as possible from anyone who was in the vicinity of Four Acre Lane at approximately five in the morning today and saw or heard anything, or who thinks they have footage from a dashcam, CCTV, or Ring doorbell, to help with the investigation.

“We will have a visible presence around the shopping centre as enquiries continue.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 24000292072.
