SAINTS skipper Jodie Cunningham led the singing after Saints made it four in a row at Wembley.
The loose forward led from the front, taking many a tough carry in the 22-0 win over rivals Leeds Rhinos.
And after the game she and the team enjoyed the spoils of victory – and was in good voice.
Cunningham declared: “I’ve never felt more proud. We carried that confidence into the final that we have gained over the past few weeks.
“We had mutual trust and were willing to support one another even when we made mistakes and lost the ball.”We are aware that mistakes will be made since no team is flawless. You will, however, accept some beatings if you have the self-assurance and the resolve to stand up for one another.
“And out there today, I just think we ground out that win so well, that I couldn’t be happier with the way we did it.”
Cunningham credited the side’s fitness as preparing them to keep working hard and turning up for each other.
“When you play all the big teams and you keep them to nil or stop them scoring a try like the semi final against York you take so much confidence from that.
“So when we are under pressure, when we are defending our line, we know we’ve been there and done it before and we’ve got confidence that when we get some good field position that we can get points on the board.
“I think it’s a bit of muscle memory – we don’t panic because we’ve been here before. We know we can turn it around and that’s exactly what you need in a final.
“You need to be able to go back to what you know and what we know is we’re going to work really, really hard for each other no matter what, and we did that today,” Cunningham stated.
