The suspect, who absconded on Wednesday night, JUne 19, after being arrested leading to a manhunt, was detained by police the following morning.
The 39-year-old man from St Helens had been arrested on suspicion of affray, and had to be taken to Whiston Hospital by officers for treatment to minor injuries.
While there, he escaped from officers leading to police making “extensive inquiries” to find him.
Residents reported seeing a large police presence near to the hospital and a police helicopter flying around the area on Wednesday night.
The suspect was arrested again on Thursday morning and taken to custody, a police spokesman confirmed.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that a man has been arrested following an incident in Knowsley on Wednesday, June 19.
“A 39-year-old man from St Helens, who had been arrested on suspicion of affray, had to be taken to Whiston Hospital by officers for treatment to minor injuries before being transported to police custody.
“While at hospital, the male absconded from officers. Following extensive inquiries, he was arrested the following morning, Thursday, June 20, and is currently in custody.”
The spokesman confirmed when asked that the arrested suspect was not wanted man James Towey, who remains at large.
