DETECTIVES are still hunting for the attackers after a man was glassed and another kicked in the face in separate assaults in a town centre bar.
Following the two attacks inside Maloney’s on the same night in May, police released CCTV photographs of three males who may have information that could help with their investigations.
On Thursday, May 23, just after 2:30 a.m., a bystander informed police that a man had been beaten at Maloney’s bar on Westfield Street. When officers arrived at the bar, they discovered a man who had been hit in the face with a glass and had injuries to his head and eyes.
The victim, man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to his eye.
Following enquiries officers established that second incident had happened that night where a man was dragged to the floor and kicked in the face.
A member of security staff tried to help but he was punched in the chin which knocked him unconscious. The second victim in this assault had declined to make a formal complaint, police said.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects involved in the two assaults, and detectives have issued images of three men they believe could assist with their investigation.
When asked for an update on the investigation, a Merseyside Police spokesman said today (Tuesday, June 4) that inquiries into the assaults remain ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made in connection with them.
Detective Inspector Richard Shillito spoke after the incidents, saying: “Both assaults were very nasty attacks, especially the man who was glassed in the face and is still in the hospital for eye surgery.”
“Nobody should have to worry about being attacked or face any form of violence in order to enjoy a night out.
“I am appealing to the men featured in the images, or anyone who recognises them to come forward. We believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing inquiries.”
