POLICE are investigating after the body of a man was found in the early hours.
Officers received a report at around 2.40am on Monday that a 33-year-old man had sustained injuries inside a home on Warrington Road, Rainhill.
The man was taken to hospital but his death was confirmed a short time later. His next of kin have been informed, police say.

In a statement police added: “The investigation is in its very early stages and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“A scene is still in place on Warrington Road this morning as part of the ongoing investigation and officers will be carrying out house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.
“A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death.
A cordon is in place in the centre of Rainhill village, with a mobile police station and two scientific support vans also stationed there.
Teams of officers and forensics could be seen visiting an address on the street, which is made up of various business and residential properties.
