St Helens fail with second appeal of Moses Mbye ban

Mbye was handed a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge on Monday for late contact on Castleford fullback Tex Hoy during their defeat to the Tigers at the Totally Wicked Stadium last Friday.

Saints appealed that ban but they were unsuccessful on Tuesday night, however, they then decided to appeal the initial appeal outcome which was upheld in the hopes the RFL would overturn the ban

“Moses Mbye on Monday was issued with a one-match penalty notice by the Match Review Panel which the Club appealed with the Operational Rules Tribunal on Tuesday evening but were unsuccessful in overturning.

“However, St.Helens will be appealing the decision from the ORT this evening (Wednesday 10th July) and if successful Mbye will then be added into the squad declaration to bring the Saints squad up to 21-men.”

St Helens fail in second appeal as Moses Mbye replacement named

Despite hopes of getting Mybe cleared and in their squad for the huge clash against Wigan on Friday, Saints have failed again with their second and final appeal.

Moses Mbye will miss Friday’s encounter against Wigan after the Saints’ appeal against his one-match punishment notice was unsuccessful tonight. For Friday’s match, Will Roberts fills in to complete our 21-man roster, according to a message on the St Helens X official account.

The Saints are shorthanded at hooker for the Warriors encounter as a result of the RFL’s decision to step up and maintain Mbye’s suspension a second time.

Daryl Clark is expected to miss the game through injury and with his natural replacement Mbye also now unavailable, Paul Wellens will have to opt for youth in the no.9 role.
