The winger is a successful product of the Saints Academy, and his decision to end his time at our Club will bring the curtain down on an incredible 14 years as part of our First Team.
Everybody at the Club would like to thank Tommy for his service to St.Helens so far and will wish him well in his next chapter come the end of the season.
As a Saint Makinson made his senior debut in 2011, whilst the Club played matches in Widnes before moving into our home now known as the Totally Wicked Stadium.
Tommy has gone on to become one of Super League’s best-ever wingmen, with an astonishing points record. He has played 325 times for the Red V, scoring; 199 tries, 273 goals, and one drop goal for a tally of 1,343 points so far.
The 32-year-old has won five Super League championships, four League Leaders’ Shields, the World Club Challenge and Challenge Cup trophies, and more throughout his career with the Saints. In addition, he has made 10 appearances for England and been chosen for the Dream Team three times.
Makinson intends to end his tenure in the renowned Red V with more silverware in our possession before moving on to new pastures in 2025.

We are a terrific group that, in my opinion, works harder and holds each other accountable.
“The relationships I’ve formed with the residents of the town and the staff are beyond anything I could have imagined when I was a 14 or 15-year-old child showing up for training at Knowsley Road. Time has flown by, and now I’m sitting here at thirty or so, and we’ve accomplished so much together. Thank you so much; I am really appreciative of all of you.
