St Mirren reject £175k bid from League One club

Caolan Boyd-Munce, a player for Northern Ireland, is wanted by St Mirren for a cost that is more like £250,000.
League One team Leyton Orient made a £175,000 offer for the midfield player, but the Saints turned it down.

Another League One team Wigan Athletic is keeping an eye on the situation as well, but St. Mirren officials may decide to extend Boyd-Munce’s contract in Paisley.

The 24-year-old, who started his career at Glentoran, signed a short-term contract with St Mirren in March of last year, but an appearance-based condition in the agreement caused the contract to be extended.

Boyd-Munce is currently under contract until the summer of 2025 with manager Stephen Robinson identifying the midfielder as an important figure in the squad.

While at St Mirren, the former player for Birmingham and Middlesbrough was awarded his first cap for Northern Ireland.

He made his debut for the senior international side in the friendly match against Spain this summer. The Belfast man’s first touch was an assist for Daniel Ballard’s header, before Spain hit back to triumph 5-1.

Ballymena Showgrounds, meanwhile, has been confirmed as the venue for the Uefa Under-21 Euro 2025 qualifiers against England on September 6 and Ukraine on September 10.

England are top seeds in Group F. The group also features Ukraine, Serbia, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg. Tommy Wright’s U21s currently sit fourth.

In the Sports Direct Premiership, Charlie Lindsay has left Derby to rejoin Glentoran on a permanent basis. The 20-year-old former Rangers youngster made 10 appearances for the Glens in a loan spell last season.

Dermy McVeigh has joined Ballymena United’s staff as first-team coach.
