Paul Mullin, the star striker for Wrexham, needs just one goal to set a record when there is one game left in this season.
Even elite goal scorers like Thierry Henry and Harry Kane have not been able to match the 29-year-old striker’s record. Mullin will make history if he scores in Wrexham’s final league game of the year against Stockport County. Mullin is the first player to score 25 goals or more in the league in four straight seasons in the top six English football leagues.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mullin scored thirty-two goals for Cambridge United in the league during the pandemic-affected 2020–2021 season before moving on a free transfer to Wrexham in the summer of 2021. He scored 28 goals in the National League during his debut season with the Red Dragons, and then he scored 38 goals in Wrexham’s historic championship victory.
Mullin has scored 24 goals in 37 League Two appearances so far this season. If he scores against Stockport, he will break the current record of three straight seasons with at least 25 goals. At the moment, Thierry Henry, Harry Kane, Jordan Rhodes, Danny Rowe, Macaulay Langstaff, and Shaun Jeffers share the record.
WHAT NEXT FOR MULLIN?
On Saturday, April 27, the 29-year-old will play in Wrexham’s final game of the season against League Two champions Stockport County.
