Stockport County makes double signing before next game>

The Hatters have already kicked off their January transfer business but further signings could be on the way

It is evident that Stockport County intends to bolster during the January transfer window, and new players may be joining them shortly.

Currently leading League Two, County is being closely watched by several teams as the hard-fought race in the division—which many had anticipated at the beginning of the season—plays out in real time.

Though plagued by injuries the whole season, Dave Challinor’s team reached a low point during the winter break, with nearly the entire starting lineup on the sidelines at Carrington.

Challinor’s hint that changes are coming over the next few weeks should come as no surprise. The most recent Edgeley Park headlines are shown below.

Speaking to the club’s media after the Hatters defeated Walsall 3-1 the previous Saturday, Challinor expressed optimism that at least two new players will join the team before his team plays Notts County this coming weekend.

“We’re hoping that someone will be in the building on Monday [January 15],” he stated. We had thought that perhaps that would have been completed before today’s match [against Walsall], but that didn’t happen, so we’ll see.

We’ll see where we are at, but that might lead to another one arriving later in the week.

“I would hope that, fingers crossed from our perspective, that we’ve got at least two bodies in by next week.”

Although no information has surfaced regarding who is expected to join the club, Challinor’s statements seem to indicate that at least one is nearing completion.

With Macauley Southam-Hales still recovering from a head injury and Kyle Knoyle out for an extended period of time, a new right-back is expected to be high on the priority list. Last weekend, 27-year-old Akil Wright filled in at full-back, a position he rarely plays.

Due to the gap being left at right-back at Edgeley Park, a report on social media over the weekend said that Hutton would be joining County from Swindon Town.
