Two men die after lorries and car crash

Following a horrifying collision on the M62 between two lorries and a car, two men have perished. Around 5.30 a.m. on Tuesday, emergency services were alerted to a major collision on the westbound carriageway.

The motorway was stopped for the duration of the day as police and paramedics hurried to the scene. Tragically, the two males who were inside the automobile passed away at the spot.

The 61-year-old driver of one of the two lorries has been taken into custody on suspicion of driving recklessly and causing death or serious harm.
Specialised officers have notified and are assisting their next of kin. The car’s driver suffered severe injuries and was taken from the scene to the hospital.

The carriageway was closed between junction 9 and junction 7 while emergency services worked at the scene and later reopened on Thursday evening.

Fire crews as well as paramedics, police and Highways Officers remained at the scene throughout the day.
