Stoke City is back in the Championship’s midtable, where they have often been in previous years.
Stoke City has won five of their last six games, which puts them on a respectable unbeaten streak in the division. However, they have had difficulty winning, and as of right now, they are ranked 14th in the Championship table.
Alex Neil’s team has had trouble consistently finding the back of the net. Despite having one of the lowest goal totals in the division right now (16 goals in 14 games), there is still hope that they can move up into the play-off picture in the upcoming months.
In this article, we evaluate Stoke City’s current campaign and project their league position.
“This season, Stoke City has been experiencing the same old thing. They have failed to mount a promotion challenge since being demoted from the Premier League. From the outside, it appears that this season will be another frustrating one for the team because they appear to be safe from relegation but are unable to advance to the next level.
They do, however, have the ability to move up the league and make a long-awaited play-off run, as they have recently shown signs of improvement.
“It is hoped that Neil, a capable manager with experience winning promotion from the Championship, can truly extract the best performance possible from a team that is genuinely his now.”
Where do Stoke City’s results stand this year?
“Stoke City must look for a consistent goal scorer during the January transfer window. As of this writing, Andre Vidigal, their top scorer, has only managed four goals. That won’t be sufficient to move a team in the direction of the playoffs.
“The team and their chances of making a serious run at promotion could be greatly impacted if the Potters can bring in a goal scorer in January.
“Stoke City could place in the top 10 if a goal scorer is found, but a finish of roughly 15th place seems more likely in the absence of one. For the Potters, that would mean even more disappointment.
