Statement made by police after teenage Stoke City supporters are attacked.

Following a match at the Riverside Stadium over the weekend, three adults who were presumably Middlesbrough supporters assaulted two teenage Stoke City fans.

The youngsters who were attacked after the game on Saturday (October 28) were accompanied by a grandfather.

Club paramedics treated the guys on the spot.

“Police are appealing after two teenagers were assaulted by three adult males after the Middlesbrough FC game against Stoke City on Saturday, October 28,” a Cleveland Police spokeswoman stated.

“The incident occurred at around 5:05 p.m. when two adolescent lads, ages 14 and 17, were walking towards the Riverside Stadium’s west stand car park with their grandmother in order to see the Stoke City players board the team bus.

Three adult guys who seemed to be followers of Middlesbrough FC approached them and struck both lads. Both lads were given on-site medical care by paramedics at the club.

“The incident happened at around 5:05 p.m. when two teenage boys, aged 14 and 17, were strolling with their grandmother towards the west stand parking lot of Riverside Stadium to see the Stoke City players board the team bus.

They were approached by three grown men who appeared to be Middlesbrough FC supporters, and they hit both of the boys. Paramedics at the club provided on-site medical care for both boys.

The third male suspect is described as Caucasian, around six feet tall, bald, wearing a green coat and navy pants, and appearing to be in his early 40s.

Officers are still looking into CCTV footage, and they are pleading for anybody who has information to call them at 101 and mention reference number 072476.
