Stoke City boss names injured duo that can make side ‘stronger’

Tyreece Campbell and Ben Wilmot, according to Stoke City manager Alex Neil, will only make the squad “even stronger” after they return from injuries.
Stoke City’s season hasn’t been easy thus far. They are currently ranked 14th on the Championship standings. At the moment, they are five points outside of the playoff spots.

Positively, the squad has won each of its past five league games. Nevertheless, the final two of those matches ended in draws without a goal. The club now has a foundation upon which to grow, and Neil believes that when two players return from injury, the team will improve even more. Wilmot, the centre defender, and Campbell, the attacker, are those two guys.

Neil remarked, “In an interview with Stoke on Trent Live:

Like any team, you will be stronger as a unit once you get your key players back. Without them, you cannot win a game.

“We still have Ben Wilmot, our player of the year from the previous year, and Tye Campbell to return. We still have certain components that will help us rebuild and become even more powerful.

This season, Campbell has only made six appearances for Stoke. Due to a knee ailment, Wilmot has missed more than a month of play.

Thrilled with the task?
It may be simple for a manager to come out as irritated when important players are injured, but Neil, the manager of Stoke City, doesn’t seem to be doing that. Rather, he seems happy that a few prominent absences will eventually rejoin the team.

Should the injured players make a full recovery, it may give the Potters a foundation on which to try to finish in the Championship’s top six. Neil’s team’s current winning streak may be seen as encouraging, even though they would have like to convert some of those draws into wins.

Every team faces the issue of injuries at some point throughout the season, but it is never better.
