Stoke City news from StokeonTrentLive as goalkeeper Jack Bonham agrees fresh terms with the club.
Goalie Jack Bonham has inked a new deal with Stoke City, the team has announced.
The present contract of Bonham has been extended by one year, thus it will now last until the summer of 2025. The 30-year-old has made 49 appearances for the Potters since arriving in 2021, making him Stoke’s third-longest serving player after Tyrese Campbell and Jordan Thompson.
16 clean sheets have been recorded, three of which have occurred during the current stretch of four shutouts in a row during the previous month. After Bournemouth’s home club returned Mark Travers following his loan term, he was called up to Alex Neil’s squad.
Technical director Ricky Martin stated, “Jack has proven both last season and this that he is a dependable and experienced custodian who we can have confidence in to perform when called upon.” “His colleagues hold him in the highest regard because of his tough and stoic nature, which is culturally necessary for a custodian vying for a single position on the squad.
Additionally, we think Jack will keep getting better at what he does and be a valuable resource for the younger goalkeeping players in our programme. He is deserving of the chance to remain at Stoke City longer.
Given the circumstances of joining the club on short notice, Bonham said, “the match against Middlesbrough felt like a big moment for me. I have since taken belief from how I have performed in the past three games.”
I think I’m at a good spot with my game and feel settled. I think I’ll get better as I work with keeper coach Jonathan Gould because I like the high calibre and attention to detail of his lessons.
“The fans’ support has been outstanding, and the boys have been fantastic with me.” It really cheers me up when I hear people scream my name from the stands when I walk outside to warm up. I appreciate their ongoing assistance.
