Stoke City negotiate deal with Man City goalkeeper

Following a busy summer transfer window, Stoke City is expected to make roster changes during the January transfer window.
Due to the loan recall of their starting custodian, Mark Travers, the team is now having problems in the custodian department.
Zack Steffen of Manchester City is a custodian with top level experience who has performed well in the Championship; Stoke should look into signing him.

Stoke City will probably take advantage of the January transfer window to bolster their roster.

The Potters had a busy summer transfer window because manager Alex Neil was heavily supported by the club’s administration to make the changes he believed were necessary.

The team welcomed a number of new players, but considering how the season has begun, Neil could decide to make some further adjustments in January.

The goalkeeping staff is one area that will probably be examined following a decision that has put the club in a challenging situation for the upcoming few weeks.

What state is Stoke City’s goalkeeping in right now?

Goalkeeper Mark Travers was one of Stoke’s several summer

additions; he came to the team on loan from AFC Bournemouth.

Travers was brought in and quickly established himself as the team’s top player, playing every minute of the Championship, demonstrating Neil’s clear desire to reinforce this position.

But at the end of October, the Potters were dealt a setback when Bournemouth was allowed to call up Travers due to injuries to their two starting goalkeepers.

Because of this, Neil has forced to start Jack Bonham as his backup in the previous two games and probably will until January.

It’s clear that Bonham didn’t persuade the Stoke manager, which is why Travers was called in. Thus, Stoke would be prudent to consider Manchester City and Zack Steffen if they decide to search for a new custodian in January.

Stoke will probably be searching for a capable replacement goalie, and none is more qualified than Steffen, who has a wealth of experience at this level.

The American has been signed by the Etihad since 2019, and despite appearing in 21 games for the team, he hasn’t really had a chance because of Ederson’s arrival.

Every time Steffen has been at City, he has been on the sidelines because of Ederson. Therefore, it is not shocking to learn that the Premier League team intends to let the 28-year-old to depart in 2024.
