During a unique Q&A in North Staffordshire, Hollywood actor Toby Jones shared some insights from his long career. Toby went to the Claybody Theatre benefit at The Dipping House, a brand-new location at Spode Works in Stoke.
The actor serves as the patron of the theatrical group, which is renowned for producing innovative and ambitious plays that are connected to the distinctive cultural history and modern-day lives of North Staffordshire residents. Deborah McAndrew, Claybody’s joint creative director, conducted an on-stage interview with him for An Audience With Toby Jones OBE. He shared details about his storied career and the roles he has played.
The celebrated actor, whose father, Freddie Jones, was born in Longton, is well-known for his love of the Potteries. He portrayed Neil Baldwin, a former Stoke City kitman and honorary graduate of Keele University, in the popular television series Marvellous.
In addition to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Toby has acted in films like as Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Infamous, and the Harry Potter series, where he voiced Dobby the house elf.
Lance from Dectorists and DCS Dennis Hoban from The Long Shadow are two examples of television roles.
Toby most recently participated in the stirring ITV drama Mr. Bates vs. The Post Office, which chronicles the tale of hundreds of sub-postmasters who were wrongly accused and found guilty of theft, fraud, and false accounting. Toby attended Stoke City’s match against Coventry on Saturday at the bet365 Stadium.
