Subbuteo have launched the first female set

The table top football game has been redesigned to feature this year’s Women’s FA Cup finalists – but it won’t be available in shops

For the first time ever, Subbuteo has produced a collection of tabletop football games with exclusively female players.

The limited edition version of the legendary table football game has been unveiled by Hasbro ahead of this Saturday’s Women’s FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium.

The two teams of athletes are dressed in the colours of Chelsea and Arsenal, the winners.

There are six replacements and twenty-two outfield players in the collection, each with a unique paint job.

Hasbro has revamped the Subbuteo packaging, emphasising the women’s role.

Fans can only enter to win the new version through the FA’s social media outlets; they will not be able to purchase it.

“This new, all-female Subbuteo set is a reflection of the rapid growth that women’s football is seeing in the UK right now,” stated Marzena Bogdanowicz, head of marketing and commercial for women’s football at the FA.

“Every day we are working to change the future of the women’s game on and off the pitch, and we aspire to greater equality from board games to boardrooms.”
“We are extremely excited to work with the FA to place focus on female footballers in this special edition of Subbuteo,” stated James Walker, senior vice president at Hasbro.

The nation’s passion of football is reflected in the rich history of subbuteo, and this all-female playset recognises the important role that women’s football plays in our society.
