There are rumours that Sunderland is “struggling” to get Jack Clarke to sign a new deal.
Alan Nixon claims that Sunderland is struggling’ to get Jack Clarke to sign a new deal.
With nine goals in the Championship this season, the 22-year-old former Leeds United and Tottenham player is drawing attention from Premier League team Brentford.
Nixon continues, saying that Sunderland and Thomas Frank are still unable to come to an agreement, putting Frank’s team on “red alert.”
Additionally, rumours have it that Sunderland is willing to pay Clarke more but wants to add a sizable sell-on provision in any agreement.
Burnley is thought to have made many bids for Clarke throughout the summer, but Sunderland turned down their proposals. However, in a recent interview with Sky Sports, the player seems committed to playing at the Stadium of Light.
“I’ve lost twice now in the play-off semi-finals, and you can only try and use that experience to your advantage, or it will eat away at you,” Clarke stated to Sky Sports. It may serve as a springboard for us to improve as a squad this season and win this league.
“Hopefully we can get into the play-offs or higher and go one better this year, and finish on a real high.”
Tony Mowbray, the head coach of Sunderland, recently reaffirmed that, despite Burnley’s repeated offers, Clarke never actively pursued a move away from Sunderland and that the two get along well.
Clarke declares, “I love playing for the gaffer.” He’s been excellent with all the other boys as well as me. He allows you the opportunity to express yourself as a young offensive player, and that’s all I want to do.
“I believe he recognized our squad’s strengths. We spent a lot of time honing our strengths and strategies for different kinds of games. Putting the ball in the correct places and acting appropriately when it matters.
“Every week, I go out there and give it my all. Things seem right sometimes, and wrong occasionally. to have fun playing football and to try new things. He provides you with that stage.”
Following their goalless draw with Swansea City last Saturday, Sunderland will play Birmingham City at the Stadium of Light in the Championship this coming weekend.
