Loaned player issues “big” Sunderland claim…..

Playing against a team the size and difficulty of Sunderland, particularly with ten men, is something Harrison Ashby enjoys. He expresses gratitude to the supporters.
Even though Sunderland and Newcastle have a bitter rivalry, Ashby respects his opponents and concentrates on his own play.
Ashby prevented Jack Clarke from scoring goals by holding his own against him. He attributes his success to his teammates’ encouragement.

Harrison Ashby impressed at full-back last time out for Swansea, as they earned a draw with Sunderland.

After Charlie Patino was sent off at the halfway point, the Swans were up against it from quite the start.

Even though the Wearsiders had far more opportunities and dominated possession, they still battled valiantly to earn a point against the Black Cats.

Sunderland is clearly trying to make a run at the Premier League this year, and even though Newcastle is his parent club, he was aware of the magnitude of their northeast rivals when talking about the difficulty they faced over the weekend.

“I believe that the fans are like our extra player there, as some of the guys have previously stated. “We feel like we have 11 men, even though we only had 10,” he remarked, as reported by the Sunderland Echo.

“I can only express my gratitude to them because I believe they were right on target. They seem to be aware of the effort required to play a large team like Sunderland with ten men in order to draw. A huge thank you to them, and we’ll definitely go back.

Despite some of their close ties, it’s always good to see or hear a player show respect for their opponents. Ashby clearly recognizes the magnitude of Sunderland as a team as well as the challenge he and his teammates faced over the weekend, which they handled admirably, particularly when down to ten men.

Newcastle and Sunderland are undoubtedly bitter rivals in the northeast, and perhaps they can square off once more to rekindle their rivalry.

As he did over the weekend, Ashby will be concentrating on performing at his peak at Swansea, where he will try to silence in-form Jack Clarke.

In response, he stated through the Sunderland Echo:

It’s one of those where you hear everyone talking about how important it is to do this or that before the game. It comes down to what I do best, which is one-on-one defense—I mean, I’m a right-back, obviously. I believe I kept up with him and prevented him from doing what he enjoys doing most, which is scoring goals. I believe that the guys who play midfield, center  defense, and forwards assisted me in accomplishing that as well.
