Sunderland super winger has agreed to sign for Burnley in January transfer

Clarke is fully aware that there could be interest in him in the future.

Despite failing to secure a transfer to the Premier League during the last transfer window, Sunderland winger Jack Clarke is aware that there may be a chance for him to do so in the future, according to the Sunderland Echo.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player was outstanding last season and obviously benefited from joining the Black Cats permanently the previous year. In 50 competitive games during the 2022–23 season, he recorded 11 goals and 14 assists.

Some people were surprised that he had such a big impact so soon despite the fact that it was obvious he was always a talented player and had even moved from Leeds United to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in his career. He most likely benefited from his loan stint at the Stadium of Light in the second half of 2021–2022, though.

He has been in excellent form once again this season, scoring seven goals in nine league appearances and proving exactly why he attracted interest during the recent summer transfer window.Sunderland stats: Cutting through the frustration to examine Jack Clarke's productivity - Sports Illustrated Sunderland NationBurnley’s pursuit of Jack Clarke

The Clarets made four bids to try and secure the signature of Clarke, which shows just how much they wanted to bring him to Turf Moor.

Since Nathan Tella had left the team when his loan period ended to rejoin Southampton, it makes sense why they wanted to bring a player of his caliber to Lancashire.

However, the Black Cats were in a very strong position at the negotiation table and demanded more from Vincent Kompany’s side because they had locked up the former Spurs player to a four-year contract last year.

Why didn’t Jack Clarke demand that Sunderland leave?
The Sunderland Echo has made two suggestions as to why Clarke decided against attempting to force his way out of the Stadium of Light.

First of all, the winger knew that if he excelled once again this year, there would be another chance to play in the premier league down the road, either with the Black Cats or through a transfer.

Second, it appears that Clarke was appreciative to the Wearside club for giving him the chance to launch his career after a disappointing stint with Spurs in the English capital.

Was Jack Clarke’s attitude on the future the right one?
The reason Clarke has had such a strong start to this season is partly due to his professionalism.
