A number of roads in Nottingham city centre will be closed or have restricted access before and during the Nottingham 10K. The charity road run will take place on Sunday, March 10, and will see participants of all ages and abilities take on the challenge throughout the city.
This year’s event is said to be ‘bigger and better’, bringing a new and improved route. The run will take participants from Old Market Square to Nottingham Castle, being the first sporting event to be held on the landmark’s grounds.
The 10K course will begin at Old Market Square, travel north through the city centre to Forest Recreation Ground, and then turn south again to the Nottingham and Beeston Canal. After making a circle around Nottingham’s Park Estate, which is renowned for its Victorian architecture, competitors will arrive at Nottingham Castle’s historic finish line.
On Sunday, March 10, between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., roadways and road intersections must be closed due to the event. The closures will also have an impact on parking availability.
A60 Huntingdon Street, A60 London Road, A6005 Castle Boulevard, A6008 Lower Parliament Street, Addison Street, B684 Woodborough Road, Bluecoat Street, Canal Street, Carrington Street, Chatham Street, Colin Street, Duke William Mount, Forest Road East, George Street, King Edward Street, Lenton Road, Lincoln Circus, Lower Parliament Street, Mansfield Road, Middle Hill, Newcastle Circus, North Sherwood Street, Park Drive, Peel Street, Peveril Drive, South Road, Tattershall Drive, and Tunnel Road are among the roads that will be impacted.
Only the northbound portion of the A60 Huntingdon Street will be blocked, with one lane of traffic remaining southbound on the A6008 Lower Parliament Street. Once runners’, spectators’, and guests’ safety is guaranteed, all road closures will be lifted.
The operations director of Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, Tristan Batley-Kyle, stated: “We are thrilled to invite runners of all abilities to compete in the Nottingham 10K. The newly designed course takes you through the greatest of Nottingham, ending inside Nottingham Castle after beginning in Old Market Square.
We sincerely apologies for any difficulty caused, but regrettably, some interruption is inevitable with an event of this magnitude. We’ll put in a tonne of effort to make sure the road closures are removed as quickly as feasible.”
Tens of thousands of pounds are anticipated to be raised for various charitable causes, including the official partner charities of the event, Maggie’s, Mind Nottinghamshire, Notts County Foundation, and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal. The largest non-profit events firm in the UK, Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, is in charge of organising the event.
Joining their mothers at the starting line to embark on the 10K challenge together is a recommendation for competitors as the event returns to the sporting calendar on Mother’s Day.
The call for entries is still open. In order to register and view the route, participants are advised to visit
